What is Talalay Latex Foam?

A Talalay latex foam is latex foam that's manufactured using a manufacturing process called Talalay. In the the Talalay process, only a small amount of latex compound is poured into the mold. The mold cavity is vacuumed to remove gaps in the mold and perfectly distribute the liquid foam. Air is infused into the latex compound and the most consistent open cell structure is created. The foam mixture is then flash frozen to lock the cell structure in place and to prevent the particles from settling.

Latex International's Talalay manufacturing process is a six-step production method. Every step of the process - from compounding to quality testing - is carefully monitored to assure that only the most consistent and durable latex foam in the world is produced. Disclosures:

In the manufacturing process, latex is poured in and released out of a Twin XL mold that is 40"x80"x5.6". This explains why Full sizes, 54"x75", and larger will come with glued seams. Being not cost effective, Queen molds are used on rare and limited basis only. While we do have seamless Full and Queen sizes on uncalculated occasions, we cannot guarantee seamless Fulls and Queens to be available. If you may have unusual nerve sensitivities, please contact us if you prefer to special order a seamless Full or Queen topper for any reason. The glued seams, however, are guaranteed not to fall apart under normal use and shouldn't be easily perceived by most people when they are lying down on it, especially if placed inside a mattress cover or pad.
In less than 2% of the time, Twin and Twin XL sizes may come with a glued seam within 4 inches from the side or the foot. In the manufacturing process, the 40" x 80" slab of foam sometimes may need to be trimmed for any reason at the manufacturer's discretion. If the slab ends short on the width or length, they may glue a piece of material from a similar latex core to correct the product's dimensions. The seam, especially considering its location on a Twin XL topper, should not affect the performance of the product nor the individual's comfort.
Note that these toppers are mattress components and may sometimes come with cosmetic imperfections that may be visible if the foam is to be left uncovered. Small tears that could have occurred during manufacturing (usually in the process of releasing these foams from the mold) can be expected. Flakes or flashes along the edge, yellow stain-like spot (really just concentrated coloring), light brown stains from dryer marks, and air bubbles are normal for these natural products. Dull blade cut, occasional markings by the manufacturer can also be expected at times.
